Sudan’s Burhan reaffirms military’s commitment to exit political process

Sudan’s military leader General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Saturday, reaffirmed the commitment of the military to exit the political process in the country.

General Al-Burhan made the remarks in a speech to the nation on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of Sudan’s independence.

“We reiterate the commitment of the military institution to completely exit the political process together with our commitment to protect the transitional period in response to the revolutionary demands and necessities of transition,” Al-Burhan said.

He expressed the hope that the transitional government would be created with its programs aimed at finding solutions to the economic problems, completing peacebuilding, achieving security and preparing the country for the general elections.

The Sudanese leader appealed to the political leaders to unite the ranks and lay the foundations for the unity and building of the country.

On 5 December 2022, Sudan’s military and civilian leaders signed a political framework deal to end the political impasse and form a two-year transitional civilian government.
