SUDANESE PRESIDENT RECEIVES QATARI STATE MINISTER FOR DEFENCE

KHARTOUM, Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir received here Sunday the visiting Qatari State Minister for Defence, Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiya, who is making a three-day visit to the country.

Also present were Sudanese Defence Minister Lieutenant-General Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibnauf, the Joint Chief of Staff, and the Ambassador of Qatar to Sudan, Rashid Al-Nuaimi, and members of the visiting delegation.

The discussions focused on ways to develop various aspects of co-operation between the two countries in the fields of training, capacity building, exchanges of expertise and co-ordination over issues of common concern as well as supporting the joint Arab work on security issues.

The Minister of Defence lauded the state of Sudanese-Qatari relations, referring to partnerships being made in the area of military industries and products.

Dr Al-Attiya, on his part, expressed appreciation to the government and people of Sudan and he conveyed greetings of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to President Al-Bashir, affirming keens to boost relations between the two countries.
