Israeli Company To Invest In Agriculture In South Sudan
An Israeli Company, called Global, is embarking on food production investments in South Sudan.

TORIT, 09 April 2016 [Gurtong] – In Eastern Equatoria, the company, joined by both National and Imatong State government officials on Tuesday gathered in Bur Payam Torit, at a field that was located to the company to launch its agricultural activities.
Speaking during the launch Imatong State Governor, Nartisio Loluke Manir appreciated the Israeli company’s commitment to assist South Sudan in food production.
The Governor said that nearly one-third of Eastern Equatoria lies on the greenbelt region thus making it one of South Sudan’s food basket areas.
He encouraged residents of the State to embark on massive cultivation in the region to boost food security.
The Governor noted that South Sudan heavily relies on foreign imports particularly food commodities from neighbouring countries.
Speaking to the media, the head of Global Company, Eran Rotem said that one of their aims is not only to seek improvement of agricultural production but also to ensure and open commercial farms and supply local production of food from various sources across the country.
He added that in the future, significant initiatives shall reach all other fertile areas around the State.
