WHR Global Shapes Clients’ Policies to Ensure Benefits Offerings Are Competitive in the Market

MILWAUKEE, July 17, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — WHR Global (WHR), a leader in the global employee relocation industry, announced the release of its international 2023 Allowances & Per Diems Benchmark Report called “Ask an Expert!”

At WHR, our mission is to provide clients with superior relocation services, and to do so, we need to be in tune with the global cost of living. To accomplish this, we created the Ask an Expert 2023 Allowances & Per Diems Benchmark Report, a comprehensive guide to understanding the true cost of living, not just in one city, but in many cities worldwide.

“Drawing from my own personal experience as a former expat residing in Switzerland, and a former relocation coordinator, I bring a deep understanding of the challenges and intricacies of international relocation,” said Sean Thrun, Strategic Initiatives Manager at WHR. “This benchmark report and firsthand knowledge equips WHR with the ability to provide valuable insights and guidance to mobility teams, enabling them to navigate the complexities of global assignments more effectively.”

The Report includes 8.8 million price submissions from 11,000 cities, and prices benchmarked by country include rental prices for 1 & 3 bedrooms both inside and outside of city centers, common utilities costs per month, local transportation, and more. Understanding the ground realities of cost of living helps relocation teams create scalable solutions and helps businesses have more productive moves, making the transition for employees smoother than ever.

The Report allows businesses to “check the pulse” of their allowances and per diems, whether they choose to administer fixed amounts globally, or variable by location. If global mobility teams find that the allowances and per diems offered to their employees are lower than the average for that country, contact WHR today for a free consultation, including a breakdown of the benchmark report by city.

Global mobility teams may use this Report, which covers 99 countries, to benchmark the following:

  • Monthly housing allowances for assignments & commuters,
  • Monthly utilities allowances for assignments & commuters,
  • Monthly transportation allowances for assignments & commuters,
  • Transportation per diems for preview and home finding trips, and

Projectiles strike Sudan, igniting concerns of a full-scale civil war

At least five civilians were killed in western Sudan over the weekend, a doctors association said.

“Five people were killed and 17 others were seriously injured, as a result of projectiles hitting the Ombada Al-Sabil neighborhood,” the Ombada Committees said on Monday.

The number of casualties may increase as many people are trapped under the rubble, the group based in Omdurman city said.

There was no comment from the Sudanese army or the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) regarding the incident.

Sudan has been ravaged by clashes between the army and the RSF since April, in a conflict that has killed some 3,000 civilians and injured thousands, according to local medics.

Several cease-fire agreements brokered by Saudi and US mediators between the warring rivals have failed to end the violence.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that nearly 3 million people have been displaced by the conflict in Sudan.

Last week, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the ongoing conflict in Sudan may lead to a full-scale civil war.

Dozens of Jewish extremist settlers early Thursday stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque/ al-Haram al-Sharif compound in occupied East Jerusalem, according to an official Palestinian source. A statement by the General Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that the settlers carried out today’s raids through al-Magharebah Gate under the heavy protection of Israeli police. “The settlers toured the mosque’s yards, listened to explanations about the purported “Temple Mount”, and provocatively performed their Talmudic rituals in the Bab al-Rahma area and in front of the Dome of the Rock before they left from Al-Silsila Gate,” it added.

New Amman slaughterhouse project investment opportunity announced

The Ministry of Investment has recently unveiled an investment opportunity for entrepreneurs seeking to participate in the development of the new Amman Slaughterhouse project. According to details shared on the “Invest in Jordan” platform, interested investors can engage in the project through the “Design-Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT)” model, in collaboration with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM). In a statement on Monday, the Ministry emphasized the importance of conducting the project under the municipality’s oversight, ensuring compliance with all pertinent regulations, and optimizing the efficiency of the modern slaughterhouse facilities. The project promises to equip the new Amman slaughterhouse with cutting-edge technologies and ample capacity to meet the anticipated meat and poultry requirements of Amman, Zarqa, and Al-Ruseifa for the next 25 years. “To uphold the highest standards of hygiene and public health, the facility will adhere to rigorous protocols in animal slaughtering and food processing,” the ministry added, noting that all procedures related to slaughtering and associated services will align with the Jordanian standards, as well as international regulations, including those set by the European Union, in addition to the principles of Islamic halal. The Ministry envisions an investment size of approximately $60 million, with an estimated internal rate of return ranging between 15% to 17%. As part of the project’s development plan, the GAM has earmarked three plots of land, covering an impressive total area of 140,000 square meters in the strategic Madouna area, situated close to the livestock market in Ouhod, eastern Amman. Safeguarding the environment is paramount in this venture, and the project incorporates an advanced wastewater treatment plant, which will recycle treated water for additional internal or agricultural applications. Furthermore, plans include the establishment of a state-of-the-art waste-to-energy power station to optimize sustainability efforts. The selected location offers significant advantages with its mostly flat terrain and excellent connectivity to major road networks. Moreover, the proximity to Queen Alia International Airport, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, and accessible overland export routes to Iraq and Gulf Cooperation Council countries further enhance the project’s appeal.
