Chairman of the Zarqa Chamber of Industry (ZCI), Fares Hammoudeh, on Thursday discussed with Economic Attaché at Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Alfan Amiruddin, and its Labor Attaché, Yudi Hermawan, ways to enhance joint investment and trade cooperation. During the meeting, which was held at ZCI’s headquarters, Hammoudeh said governorates of Zarqa and Mafraq possess the “appropriate” infrastructure to receive industrial investments. Hammoudeh also said national industry should benefit from the raw materials exported by Indonesia and especially required in Jordan’s wood, furniture, chemical, engineering, and clothing industries. He called on the Indonesian side to benefit from the Kingdom’s “comparative” advantages and its trade agreements signed with foreign countries and global blocs, especially the free trade agreement (FTA) concluded with the United States and the trade deals inked with European Union countries by investing in export industries. For his part, Amiruddin stressed “depth” of Jordanian-Indonesian economic and trade relations, calling on launching stronger cooperation and coordination to enhance trade exchange and strengthen relations among the two countries’ businesspeople, referring to new Indonesian investments in Jordan’s fertilizer field. During the meeting, discussions stressed need to benefit from Indonesia’s experience in some industrial fields, especially furniture industry and import of raw materials, emphasizing the Kingdom’s efforts to promote Indonesian investors in the industrial field.
