Zakat Collections in Sudan Surpass Expectations, Reaching 109% of Target in 1st Quarter

Khartoum: The Secretary-General of the Zakat Chamber, Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Abdullah, has revealed that Zakat collections for the first quarter of this year, 2025, reached 109%, amounting to 125.9 billion Sudanese pounds (SDG), despite the exclusion of ten states from collection.

According to Sudan News Agency, the Secretary-General, speaking at the SUNA forum in Omdurman on Wednesday, added that 47 million Sudanese pounds were spent on Ramadan programs. These programs included Ramadan baskets, Eid celebrations, prisoner releases, support for religious convoys, support for the Battle of Dignity, treatment of the wounded, and support for hospices (Takaya) and shelters. He commended the Wali (governor) of Khartoum State for highlighting the role of the Zakat Chamber and for his positive comments about the Chamber’s support for the citizens of Khartoum State.

The Secretary of the Zakat Chamber in Khartoum State, Madina Ali Ahmed, noted that displacement and the nonexistence of citizens in the localities made it impossible to renew the data of the poor segments. However, the Chamber will continue to provide support to the poor persons wherever they are, pledging to dispatch additional convoys before Eid al-Adha.
