AMMAN: Adnan Bou Hasna, the media advisor for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), commended the results of the special session of the League of Arab States Council at the level of permanent delegates, which was called by Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bou Hasna praised Jordan’s involvement in supporting and assisting UNRWA, citing His Majesty King Abdullah II’s backing, his actions and remarks in regional and global fora, and his speeches before the UN. He noted that Jordan is acutely aware of the unprecedented challenges facing UNRWA and highlighted the strong presence of Jordanian diplomacy in UNRWA files, emphasizing its efforts to ensure the agency’s continuity.
Bou Hasna underscored the importance of the meeting’s timing, given the recent decisions by the Israeli Knesset aimed at eliminating UNRWA’s functions. He stated that the potential ban on one of the largest UN agencies is unprecedented and violates the Geneva Conventions and international human ri
ghts covenants.
UNRWA’s media advisor indicated that Israel’s ongoing tactics toward the agency constitute a clear violation of international resolutions and legal frameworks signed by UN member states. Bou Hasna concluded by highlighting the significance of the Arab League Council meeting, which convened to present a unified Arab stance aligned with the global community’s position against the Israeli Knesset’s risky resolutions.
