New York: The United Nations has affirmed the significance of the Quartet’s statement in its efforts to restore peace and security in Sudan. UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric highlighted the importance of the recent joint statement issued by the Quartet, which consists of the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United States of America.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Dujarric emphasized the UN’s commitment to engaging constructively with any initiative aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan. He reiterated the organization’s stance that there is no military solution to the ongoing crisis and urged all parties involved to prioritize civilian protection. This includes implementing an immediate humanitarian truce, ensuring unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, establishing a permanent ceasefire, and agreeing on a comprehensive political process to facilitate a credible transition.
