Two bodies of Uror missing boys found

Two bodies of four boys who have been missing since last week in Uror County of Jonglei State were found in neighbouring Nyirol County on Friday, local officials said.

Last week, authorities in Uror County reported that four boys went missing while herding their cattle on the outskirts of Motot Payam.

Nyirol County Commissioner James Bol Makuei told Radio Tamazuj that the two bodies were found by local youth on Friday.

“While the local youth were returning to Uror County after pursuing the attackers without success, they found the two boys dead between Karam and Pading Payam,” he said.

Brigadier Marial Gatluak, the county police inspector, identified the deceased as Manyang Mabil Tut and Luk Bol. He accused some youth from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) of involvement in the incident.

Last week, Nyang Korok, the deputy head of the greater Pibor area’s human rights commission, condemned the recurring attacks in Jonglei State and reiterated that their government is committed to working for peace.

“The chief administrator was recently in Nanaam to engage youth on peace. We cannot deny that some of our youth might have been involved in cattle raids. So, we are working with Jonglei State to bring peace,” Korok said.
