Doha: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a series of bilateral meetings with fellow leaders on the sidelines of an extraordinary Organisation of Islamic Cooperation-Arab League summit in Doha, Qatar. The summit was convened to address the recent hostilities by Israel, including the September 9 attack on Doha, which threaten regional coexistence. Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering support for Qatar and condemned the Israeli strike on Hamas’s negotiating team in Doha as “banditry on a different level.”
According to TRTworld.com, during his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al Sudani, Erdogan emphasized the continuation of bilateral cooperation against terrorism and the strengthening of ties across various sectors. Türkiye’s Communications Directorate noted that Erdogan highlighted ongoing efforts to bolster Türkiye-Iraq relations, particularly in the energy sector, and the Development Road Project aimed at enhancing their bilateral ties.
In discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Erdogan criticized Israel’s escalating aggression as unacceptable and called for accountability under the law for its actions. He assured that Türkiye would stand by nations targeted by Israeli aggression and reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to securing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and delivering humanitarian aid.
Erdogan also engaged in talks with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, emphasizing the importance of increasing sanctions against Israel, arguing that economic measures would be effective. He expressed satisfaction with the advancing cooperation between Türkiye and Somalia and pledged continued support for the African nation.
During a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, Erdogan lauded Sharaa’s participation in the United Nations General Assembly as historically significant. He reassured that Türkiye would sustain its support for Syria and was actively working to enhance bilateral relations further. Erdogan also stressed the importance of maintaining Syria’s unity and the adherence to the March 10 agreement by the SDF, as per Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.
