Terik: The Deputy Head of the National Committee to Lift the Siege on Al-Fashir, Mohamed Al-Amin Terik, criticized the statement issued by the Quartet Committee regarding the situation in the country, stating that it “means nothing and does not concern us in any way, shape, or form.”
According to Sudan News Agency, during the launch of the committee’s work, Terik explained that the initiative is purely national and enjoys the full support and backing of all sectors of the Sudanese people because it is a “popular and humanitarian effort.” He added that it is an “extension of national work to confront the challenges and conspiracies being plotted against the country.”
He noted that the committee has several working tracks, including security, military, political, humanitarian, and financial. He emphasized the need to support the initiative, calling for avoiding reliance on foreign organizations.
Terik stressed the importance of closing off loopholes to external interference and foiling plots that aim to “fragment Sudan’s unity and loot its resources.”
He sent a message to the international community and those “who wish to conspire against and target countries,” stating that “Sudan is a country supported by its armed forces and its steadfast people.”
For his part, Bahr Idris Abu Garda, a member of the National Committee to Lift the Siege on Al-Fashir, said the committee was initiated and is supervised by the Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minnawi.
He clarified that they no longer rely on the international community, which he accused of “collusion and plotting conspiracies against Sudan with the aim of fragmenting its unity and looting its resources through various scenarios.”
Abu Garda called on the Sudanese people to contribute and stand behind the national initiative to “resist the external ambitions that aim for the fall of Al-Fashir into the hands of the rebel militia.” He highlighted the city’s special significance, strategic location, and political dimension.
Abu Garda stated that the city has shown great resilience and made huge sacrifices, presenting “heroic epics” throughout the two-year siege. He lauded the sacrifices and efforts of the Armed Forces, the Joint Forces, the National Intelligence Service, the mobilized civilians, and women, noting that women “played heroic roles that will be recorded in the pages of history.”
