SUDAN’S AMIRA AL-FADIL ELECTED AU COMMISSIONER FOR SOCIAL AFFAIRS

ADDIS ABABA, Amira Al-Fadil of Sudan has been elected the Commissioner for Social Affairs at the African Union (A() Commission at the 28th AU Ordinary Summit in Addis Ababa Monday.

This is the highest position to which a candidate from Sudan has been elected since the country joined the Organization of African Unity (OAU and its successor organization, the African Union.

Sudan's candidate for the position of the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Rahamtalla Mohamed Osman, was not elected.
