SUDANESE VEEP CALLS FOR EFFORTS TO REALISE PEACE, STABILITY IN ABYEI REGION
KHARTOUM, April 18 (NNN-SUNA) -- Sudanese Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman has called for efforts to realize peace, stability and development in the Abyei area in the southern part of Sudan along the border with South Sudan.
Addressing a meeting of the joint supervisory committee for Abyei at the Republicn Palace here Monday, Hassabo called for concern to be shown in helping refugees from South Sudan as well as Sudanese who had returned to Sudan because of the insecurity in the neighbouring country.
The chairman of the joint supervisory committee for Abyei, Hassan Nimir, said in a statement that the meeting discussed the provision of services, the contributions for realizing stability and the role of the international forces in maintaining security.
He added that the meeting affirmed the importance of maintaining co-operation with the concerned ministries and organs for extending basic services for the citizens of Abyei.
Nimir said the meeting underscored the importance of support to the native administration and opening the markets for realizing more stability in the area. -- NNN-SUNA
