KHARTOUM, -- Sudanese Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman is leading the country's delegation to the summit of the Commo Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) being held in Madagascar from Monday to Oct 19.

Sudan's Minister of Trade, Salah Mohamed Al-Hassan, said Sunday that a meeting chaired by Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman had discussed the arrangements relating to Sudan's participation in the summit.

The summit will discuss a number of issues in the fields of industrial development and peace and security in the region, sources of funding for COMESA programmes as well as the restructuring of the sub-regional organization.

The minister added that the summit would also review a report on the implementation of COMESA programmes in the past period.

He referred to the effective role of Sudan at COMESA whose member States represent a market for Sudanese exports, especially unconventional exports, as they benefit from COMESA's zero Customs tariff arrangements.
