KHARTOUM, -- Sudan's President Omer Al-Bashir has received a message from Senegalese counterpart President Macky Sall dealing with bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.

The message was delivered here Sunday by Senegal's Minister of Education and nevoy of President Sall, in the presence of Sudanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Obaidalla Mohamed Obaidalla.

Dr Obaidalla said the meeting discussed common issues between Sudan and Senegal, which are linked by deeply-rooted economic ties. He also referred to the role being played by Sudanese Telcom Company in Senegal and the ongoing endeavours to reactivate the Joint Sudanese-Senegalese Ministerial Committee.

He added that there was co-ordination between the two countries at regional and international forums, especially over issues of Darfur, the United nations Mission Dafur (UNAMID), the African Union (AU), and the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The Minister said the visit of presidential envoy came within the framework of soliciting support for the Senegalese candidate for chairmanship of AU Commission, unveiling that Sudan had also received similar requests from Chad, and Kenya to back their candidates and affirming that the African group would co-ordinate in this connection and that Sudan wanted consensus over the selection.
