SUDANESE PRESIDENT GRANTS PARDONS FOR FIVE REBELS

KHARTOUM, Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir has issued a decree dropping the death penalty imposed on five rebels in response to an appeal by the group of the political parties to the National Dialogue and as a gesture to boost the climate for the national accord.

The five rebels who have thjeir death penalty dropped are: Ibrahim Abdul Rahman Saffi El Nour, Yahiya Abakar Musa Al Nour, Ibrahim Ali Al Rashid Abdul Gadir, Mohamed Ibrahim Al Douma, and Azrag Daldoom Adam Haroon, according to a statement issued here Thursday.

The presidential decree also directed the concerned bodies to promptly implement the decision.
