SUDANESE PRESIDENT CHAIRS FIRST MEETING OF COUNCIL FOR OIL AFFAIRS FOR 2017

KHARTOUM, Sudanese President Omer Al-Basher chaired on Monday the first meeting of the Council for Oil Affairs for the new year.

Minister of Oil and Gas Dr . Mohammed Zayed Awad said in a media statement after the meeting that the Council approved the performance report of the Oil Sector for the past year and the features of the future plans of the sector.

He added that the Council heard reports on the outcomes of negotiations on extending the Oil Production Agreements and the economic issues between Sudan and South Sudan which were extended for three years from the end of December 2016.

The minister said the meeting also discussed directives concerning the exit of the State from the oil market, revealing that Rawat Oil Field had started production, during the current year with productivity estimated at 5,000 barrel per day
