SUDANESE DEFENCE MINISTER ENDS VISIT TO EGYPT WITH CALL ON PRESIDENT AL-SISI
Sudanese Minister of Defence Lieutenant-General Awad Ibin Aouf on Monday concluded his visit to Egypt with a call on President Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi, accompanied by his Egyptian counterpart, General Subhi Sidigi.
Sudan's ambassador in Cairo, Abdul Mahmood Abdul Halim, said the meeting was cordial and frank and that Gen. Awad conveyed to President Al-Sisi the greetings of his Sudanese counterpart, President Omar al-Bashir, who re-affirmed Sudan's keenness to boost co-operation between the two countries and to re-invigorate co-operation mechanisms between Cairo and Khartoum.
He said the defence minister also briefed President Al-Sisi on the outcome of his talks with his Egyptian counterpart which focused on border and political issues as well as developments in the region and particularly the situation in Libya, and its implications for Sudan, as well as co-ordination between the defence ministries of Sudan and Egypt.
President Al-Sisi asked the ambassador to convey his greeting to President al-Bashir and re-affirmed the commitment of Egypt to boost bilateral relations in the various domains and the commitment of Egypt not to intervene in the domestic affairs of other nations.
President Al-Sisi also underlined commitment to implement what was agreed upon during the meeting of the Co-ordination and Follow-up Mechanisms between the two countries.
