Khartoum: Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali Yousuf Ahmed Al-Sharif, has expressed approval of recent statements by US officials regarding the extension of humanitarian aid delivery to the country. The remarks from US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller and US envoy to Sudan Tom Perriello have been seen as a positive shift in the American stance, according to Dr. Al-Sharif.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Al-Sharif highlighted the importance of the US statements as a promising development, especially as a new US administration prepares to take office in January. He emphasized Sudan’s intent to maintain open dialogue with the US, both in Khartoum and Washington, to foster a greater understanding of the current situation in Sudan.
The Foreign Minister reiterated Sudan’s dedication to ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches all regions in need across the country. This commitment aligns with recent US acknowledgments, where State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller welcomed decisions by
the Transitional Sovereignty Council to extend aid delivery via the Adre crossing. Additionally, previous government actions have permitted aid flights to operate through airports in Dongola and South Kordofan.
US envoy Tom Perriello praised these decisions, describing them as crucial steps towards expediting the humanitarian assistance process.
