Sudan Joins AASTMT General Assembly in Alexandria.


Alexandria: Sudan participated in the opening of the 29th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) at the experts level, held in Alexandria on Monday. The Sudanese delegation was led by Engineer Yassir Mohamed Madibo, Head of the Land Transport and Crossings Unit and Director of the River Navigation Authority, and included Mohamed Osman, Director of the Ministerial Executive Office at the Ministry of Transport, along with a representative of the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Sudan to the League of Arab States.

According to Sudan News Agency, delegations from the Arab member states of the AASTMT General Assembly took part in the meeting. The discussions focused on AASTMT’s achievements, annual plans, projects, and future initiatives. Representatives from participating countries commended AASTMT’s progress and expansion over the years in its academic activities and affiliated branches, particularly in qualifying cadres from various Ar
ab countries in maritime transport, ports sectors, and all maritime logistics services.

Moreover, the meeting highlighted AASTMT’s contributions to scientific research and technical consultations in maritime activities. Attention was also given to ongoing projects and strategies aimed at elevating AASTMT’s role in serving the Arab nation. Notably, Sudan was elected to the membership of the AASTMT Financial and Administrative Control Authority for the upcoming two years.
