Sudan: Gezira State's Legislative Council Welcomes China's Agricultural Investments

Medani — The Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Al-Dekheiri addressed Thursday the members of Gezira State’s Legislative Council and the state’s deputies at the National Assembly.

The minister reviewed the agreements with a number of Chinese companies, which targeted at agricultural development and the five-year economic program, announcing that his ministry will work to expand the strategic cash crops including cotton, praising the experience of the Gezira rich experience in the cultivation of this crop, referring to the Chinese President’s Investment Initiative in the African continent and Sudan targeting cultivation of one million acres of cotton as well as 171 projects from which 24 projects were signed and 450 acres have been cultivated with cotton at Gezira state.

The Chairman of Gezira State’s Legislative Council Prof. Jalal Minallah Jibril welcomed partnership and investment with the State of China, referring to the Council’s concern with the agriculture, farmers and the advancement of the Gezira Scheme, stressing their support to the agricultural sector to achieve economic stability.
