Khartoum: Sudan has called on the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and other international and regional organizations to hold emergency meetings to discuss the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aggression against the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, this announcement was made by the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, who revealed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs had sent letters to key figures such as the President of the UN General Assembly, the President of the UN Security Council, the Secretary-General of the UN, and other international and regional organizations. The letters were aimed at drawing attention to the UAE’s actions and their implications.
On Thursday, Ambassador Al-Fadil briefed UN organizations and agencies based in Sudan about the recent developments, highlighting the UAE’s targeting of essential civil facilities in Port Sudan. He also discussed the resolutions of the Security and Defense Council from its emergency meeting earlier this month, stressing that such attacks are violations of international conventions and threaten civil rights.
The Undersecretary emphasized the armed forces’ readiness to manage the situation and urged UN organizations and agencies to clearly condemn the UAE’s escalation and the actions of its allied rebel militia.
Additionally, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Salwa Adam Benya reassured that the humanitarian situation remains stable, with aid continuing to reach the states effectively. The Acting UN Resident Representative in Sudan confirmed the ongoing operations of UN agencies in Port Sudan, ensuring that they are fulfilling their responsibilities.
