Social Development Ministry highlights key achievements, activities last May

Ministry of Social Development issued its report for last May, which tracked its key services, procedures, and monitoring visits to the Kingdom’s various regions. In a statement to “Petra” on Wednesday, the ministry’s media spokesperson, Ashraf Khreis, said the report featured volume of services provided by the ministry, National Aid Fund (NAF), and affiliated associations and institutions, beneficiary tally and service type. According to the report, the ministry’s directorates provided in-kind assistance to 1,884 households, while 6,908 families received cash aid and 7,070 cases were carried out to grant health insurance to underprivileged households. Meanwhile, a total of 163 cases to issue exemption from treatment expenses were examined, the report said. In addition, 6 new nurseries were licensed, and 5 others were warned. Meanwhile, a total of 143 requests to buy homes for poor families were submitted and 89 people requested to maintain their houses. On the other hand, the ministry said its Anti-Vagrancy Department arrested 973 beggars countrywide and carried out 474 campaigns. The ministry also examined 1947 requests to grant exemption from work permit fees. According to NAF report last May, a total of 604 new families benefited from the recurring monthly assistance program, while 886 new households received emergency financial aid and 57 new others benefited from physical rehabilitation program.
