Sleiman: We have become the Arab World’s joke
President Michel Sleiman addressed a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, on the occasion of his visit to Lebanon. The said letter tackles internal affairs, and Syria issues.
In a press conference held at the headquarters of the "Republic Gathering" in Hazmieh, Sleiman questioned the role of ministers in the issue of waste, starting with the Ministry of Environment.
"The so-called Daesh must be abolished, and that is the responsibility of the UN Security Council, in cooperation with the countries where terrorists are stationed," he said.
Tackling the presidential vacuum, Sleiman said "we have become the Arab World's joke after 37 futile, quorum-less election sessions."
He pointed out that "everyone must rally around the country's security institutions which stand for the unity and security of Lebanon."
Pertaining to the displaced people, he underscored "the need to put the 'dignified' return of displaced Syrians on top of the list of priorities to solve the Syrian crisis."
Addressing Ban Ki-moon, Sleiman said "Lebanon is aware of what you have done for its sake in international forums."
