Sixth Infantry Division Successfully Repels Al-Dagalo Militia’s 206th Attack on El-Fashir, Resulting in 112 Casualties

El-Fashir: The Sixth Infantry Division in El-Fashir has announced a successful defense against the 206th attack launched by the rebel Al-Dagalo militia on the city. Supported by a coalition of forces, including the joint force, the General Intelligence Service, police forces, mobilized persons, and the popular resistance, they repelled the offensive in the southwestern axis of El-Fashir.

According to Sudan News Agency, the division reported in a press briefing on Thursday that the confrontation resulted in the death of 60 militia members and injuries to 52 others. The remaining attackers retreated, abandoning their dead and wounded as they fled the battleground. The defending forces continued to chase the retreating militia beyond the city’s perimeter.

In tandem with these efforts, Special Forces and the General Intelligence Service have maintained a vigilant search of El-Fashir neighborhoods to dismantle militia hideouts. This operation has led to the confiscation of significant amounts of weapons and ammunition, as well as the capture of prisoners.

The Sixth Infantry Division highlighted the heightened state of readiness among the forces in El-Fashir and emphasized the psychological impact of the Al-Sayyad mobile force’s threats, which have instilled fear among the enemy. Consequently, retreat seems to be the only viable option for the militia forces.

The press briefing also addressed the ongoing intermittent shelling by the rebel militia on Wednesday, which resulted in the deaths of five civilians and injuries to 40 others. Among the casualties were women who required medical treatment in local hospitals.

The Sixth Infantry Division assured that the situation remains under firm control, crediting the resilience of its forces. They extended their gratitude to the joint forces, as well as the divisions stationed in Nyala, El-Geneina, El-Daein, and Zalingei, for their unwavering support.
