National Commission for Human Rights Condemns RSF Militia Attack on Zamzam IDP Camp


Port Sudan: The National Commission for Human Rights has strongly condemned the attack that was launched by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on the Zamzam camp for displaced people (IDP) in North Darfur state, which led to dozens of civilian casualties and the displacement of thousands of IDPs.



According to Sudan News Agency, the commission stated that the act constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and norms, as well as a violation of international conventions and treaties related to the protection of IDPs and civilians.



The Commission has called on the RSF militia to immediately cease the attacks it is launching on the Zamzam IDP camp. It warned the militia against further attacks on any IDP camp and in any area. The commission expressed its condolences for the souls of the martyrs among the IDP in the Zamzam camp and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded and the reunification of the IDPs.



The Commission also called for an immediate and transparent investigation into these events to determine those responsible for the violence and killing of civilians. It stressed the need to protect thousands of displaced persons from forced exiling.
