Managil: The Governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minnawi, stated that international relief organizations operating in the country are aware that aid supplies are going to the rebel militia, and that the keys to warehouses are in the hands of militia commanders who distribute them as they want.
According to Sudan News Agency, speaking at the inauguration of the work of the National Committee for Lifting the Siege on El-Fashir in Port Sudan Saturday, Minnawi criticized the international silence regarding the crimes and violations committed by the rebel militia against unarmed civilians, in addition to the siege imposed on El-Fashir for more than two years.
Minnawi highlighted the importance of taking several steps to improve the humanitarian situation and deliver relief to those in need. He confirmed that 30 convoys were prevented from entering El-Fashir, with some being burned and plundered by the militia.
He noted that between January and April, organizations brought in about 1,000 trucks through the Adre crossing, but not a single one reached El-Fashir. He pointed out that ending the siege requires intensified efforts and that the National Committee should communicate with Sudanese communities abroad and humanitarian organizations. He underscored the need to shed light on the crimes and humanitarian conditions of those besieged in El-Fashir, produce documentaries to document the war crimes committed against defenseless civilians, and intensify and activate the media side.
Minnawi also called for the formation of subcommittees for the National Committee in all different states of Sudan.
Minnawi announced that the head of the National Committee for Lifting the Siege on Al-Fashir, Azhari Al-Mubarak, donated 100 fully equipped vehicles, in addition to four ambulances and mobile hospitals, to support the committee’s initiative.
Minnawi offered condolences to the families of the victims of the El-Fashir mosque massacre, where more than 70 people were martyred after being targeted by a strategic drone while performing Fajr prayers last Friday.
