Managil: Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Engineer Ismat Gurashi Abdullah, affirmed the concern of the state and the Sudanese people with the Gezira Scheme as a value held dear, stating that Sudan’s recovery is tied to the recovery of the Gezira Scheme. Addressing the agricultural engineers and workers of Al-Managil units at the Gezira Scheme in Managil Thursday, he stated that the Gezira Scheme is the foremost national priority at the present time. He emphasized the importance of precise coordination between irrigation and agriculture to secure food for the people of Sudan and support the national economy.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister referred to the ongoing measures to attract investments and provide financing for farmers, calling for the adoption of programs to preserve expertise within the scheme. He highlighted the important role of agricultural and animal production professional organizations in supporting the efforts of the administration, announcing his commitment to adopting t
he issues of the scheme’s workers.
For his part, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, the Governor of the Scheme, announced the completion of arrangements for harvesting the summer season crops, which promise high productivity, and preparations for cultivating winter season crops on an area of 500 thousand acres. He indicated that the partnership between irrigation and agriculture will enhance efforts to serve the Gezira Scheme and advance production and productivity.
A number of officials and trade unionists also spoke at the meeting, affirming the continuation of efforts to advance the scheme, secure food, support the national economy, and refute the falsehood of famine in Sudan as purported by those who plot against the nation’s security.
It is worth mentioning that the Minister, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, and irrigation officials inspected the progress of summer season crop growth and the arrangements for harvest and preparation for winter season crop cultivation in a number of inspection units within the
central unit. The Minister expressed his pride and appreciation for the successful establishment of the summer season crops and the preparations for the winter season.
