MFA Undersecretary Engages with Russian President’s Special Envoy for Middle East and North Africa.


Sochi: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, engaged in discussions with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs-Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and North Africa, Ambassador Mikhail Bogdanov. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the inaugural ministerial conference for the Russian-African partnership, held in the Russian city of Sochi.

According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions centered on the bilateral relations between Sudan and the Russian Federation, covering political, security, economic, and cultural sectors. Ambassador Al-Fadil updated his Russian counterpart on the current national situation, particularly focusing on the recent violations by the outlawed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Al-Gezira. He emphasized the critical role of Russian support for Sudan in the Security Council and in post-war reconstruction efforts.

Ambassador Bogdanov highlighted the longstanding historical relations
between the two nations and reaffirmed Russia’s backing of Sudan’s legitimate institutions in international forums. Both parties acknowledged the need to invigorate joint cooperation mechanisms, such as the Ministerial and Political Consultation Committees, to further strengthen their bilateral relations.

The conference, led by Ambassador Al-Fadil, aims to bolster relations between Russia and African countries across political, security, economic, and cultural dimensions. It also reviews the progress of the outcomes from the Russian-African summits, particularly focusing on implementing the joint action plan approved at the latest summit in Russia in 2023.

Ambassador Al-Fadil is set to articulate Sudan’s perspective on advancing Russian-African relations and will address the developments within Sudan. Additionally, he will conduct several bilateral meetings with Russian officials and African counterparts during the conference.
