MFA Condemns RSF Militia’s Persistence in Committing Massacres

Merowe: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued a statement on Saturday condemning the persistence of the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in committing massacres and directing its military machinery towards unarmed defenseless civilians, after its successive defeats in military confrontations.

According to Sudan News Agency, the statement highlighted a recent attack by the Janjaweed militia, which resulted in a massacre at the Sabirin Market in Karari District. This attack occurred during peak hours when the market was crowded with shoppers, leading to over 60 civilian deaths, including women and children, with many others injured. The MFA emphasized that the market was deliberately targeted to maximize civilian casualties.

This incident follows a series of similar attacks by the RSF militia, including a massacre at the Saudi Maternity Hospital in Al-Fashir, where 70 patients, predominantly women and children, were killed. Just days earlier, another attack occurred in the rural areas of Um Kadada, with additional massacres reported in the villages of Al-Gazira. The RSF militia has been accused of escalating its attacks on civilians in response to defeats in military confrontations with the Sudanese Armed Forces, Joint Forces, and support units.

The MFA criticized international parties for their portrayal of the conflict as a clash between two factions, which inadvertently legitimizes the RSF as a political entity rather than recognizing it as a terrorist group. The statement called for the international community to unite against the RSF to eliminate the threat it poses. The MFA also held the Security Council and Western powers responsible for the continued massacres, accusing them of responding with mere verbal condemnations and ignoring the militia’s regional sponsors who supply it with artillery and drones.
