Port Sudan: The Sudanese Popular Initiative to Thank the Russian People and Government organized a mass rally and a stand of thanks and appreciation in front of the Russian Embassy in Portsudan on Tuesday. The event was held to express gratitude for the Russian Federation’s recent support for Sudan in the UN Security Council, where Russia used its veto power to block the adoption of a British draft resolution on Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, the event featured numerous banners from national entities, organizations, native administrations, and various parties. The mass gathering stretched from the transit roundabout to the Russian Embassy in the Airport Neighborhood in Portsudan, the administrative capital. During the event, Russian Ambassador to Sudan, Andrei Chernovol, was honored for his country’s supportive stance.
Professor Ali Mohamed Abdullah, representing the initiative, commended Russia for its supportive positions towards Sudan. Spokespersons from chiefdoms, societal components, political
forces, tribal coordination, and native administrations expressed their strong support for the Sudanese armed forces and thanked Russia for its steadfast positions regarding Sudan.
Russian Ambassador Andrei Chernovol reiterated his country’s strong support for Sudan in all international forums, highlighting the strength of bilateral relations and the coordination between the two countries. He emphasized the desire of both nations to maintain and strengthen their ties.
