Lol State complains over lack of educated police officers
Police authorities in South Sudan's Lol State have complained over the lack of educated officers in the force.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Monday, the state police commissioner, Major Gen. James Simon said they have a lot of police officers, but most of them are unable work due to old age and lack of proper education.
The available police in the state will not able to provide full security simply because most of them have grown old in age, said Simon.
According to the police official, several police officers are deployed at county, payam and boma levels, but most of them are former fighters positioned before South Sudan seceded from Sudan.
He said the state needed qualified police and appealed to the national government to consider approving appropriate numbers for training.
A reformed police force, he said, will protect citizens and their properties.
The top police officer, however, appreciated the roles played by the old police officers during events leading to the country's independence.
