Portsudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Shams-Eddin Kabashi, received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing conditions in the Blue Nile region, with a focus on humanitarian, security, and economic issues. During a meeting held in his office in Portsudan on Sunday, Kabashi conferred with the Governor of Blue Nile region, Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, emphasizing the government’s commitment to overcoming challenges impeding development and reinforcing security and stability in the state.
According to Sudan News Agency, the discussions during the meeting centered on the security, political, and economic situations in the region. Additionally, they addressed the progress of humanitarian aid operations, which have been necessitated by the violations perpetrated by the rebel terrorist militia. This has become particularly urgent given the large influx of displaced persons (IDPs) and voluntary returnees that the region is currently hostin
g. The meeting also highlighted preparations for the upcoming agricultural season and the production situation in the region.
Governor Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, in a press statement following the meeting, detailed that the discussions reviewed the comprehensive situation in the region. He highlighted the region’s resilience in standing firm with its armed forces and citizens against the militia, reiterating the state government’s dedication to bolstering security and stability across all localities. Badi also noted efforts to foster peace, community security, and coexistence in light of the influx of IDPs and voluntary returnees.
Furthermore, Badi informed the Sovereignty Council member about the region’s initiatives to overcome obstacles that hinder the educational process and stages of exams. He pointed out the challenges affecting the agricultural season’s success and the plans to cultivate two million acres during the current season, along with efforts to combat agricultural pests.
