Port Sudan: The Joint Committee between the Red Sea Health Insurance Branch and the State Zakat Office has announced the renewal of medical cards, following a periodic meeting chaired by the Director of Health Insurance, Red Sea State Branch, and Secretary of the Zakat House, Sheikh Abdul Qadir, held at the former’s office in Port Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Ali Shash, a key figure in the discussions, shared insights regarding the federal six-member supreme committee. One of the committee’s recommendations was to establish technical bodies aimed at improving coordination provisions. The meeting focused on reviewing the outcomes of the joint federal committee’s draft, paying particular attention to issues related to debts and the database.
Dr. Shash confirmed that since 2017, approval has been granted to benefit three thousand families. Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Qadir, Secretary of the Zakat Office in the state, committed to setting up an emergency room dedicated to card renewals and re-targetin
g. He promised to issue renewal letters to all interested parties.
Sheikh Abdul Qadir further mentioned that efforts have commenced to settle previous debts owed to health insurance. He highlighted the effective coordination between health insurance and the zakat office, emphasizing that these efforts are expected to enhance social protection for citizens.
