Jewish settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque (Haram Al Sharif) compound in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday and performed prayers at the site, one of Islam’s holiest shrines.

The Jerusalem Islamic Endowments Department said in a statement that dozens of ultra-orthodox settlers stormed the holy compound from Bab Al-Maghariba Gate under heavy police escort.

Since the start of Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in October, 2023, the occupation authorities have tightened measures at the gates of the compound in Jerusalem’s walled Old City and allowed incursions by settlers and far-right groups.
