Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani called for treating any targeting of Arab and Islamic countries as a threat to shared national security, noting that the continuation of Israel’s policies without deterrence will lead to further instability.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, in his speech at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit, the Prime Minister reiterated Iraq’s unequivocal condemnation of the attacks targeting the security and stability of the region, and its full solidarity with the State of Qatar, the Palestinian people, and all peoples subjected to aggression, whether in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, or Iran.
He stressed that “the attack on the State of Qatar represents a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law, and threatens efforts to defuse the crisis in the region, in light of Qatar’s diplomatic mediation efforts. He indicated that the aggression against it deliberately kills the chances of peaceful solutions,” stressing the need for international and UN bodies and organizations, as well as major powers, to assume their responsibilities to prevent the occupation from deliberately harming the international system.
He pointed out that strengthening the mechanisms of consultation and coordination between our countries to ensure a collective response to any threat to our sovereignty and security, and activating the joint deterrence system to protect the stability of the region, explained that the occupation authorities are violating the foundations of international law and the United Nations Charter, and are deliberately expanding the conflict in the region.
