Port Sudan: The Higher Committee of the Sudanese-Egyptian Investment Forum held its first meeting in Portsudan on Thursday, chaired by Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Ahlam Madani Mahdi, with the attendance of undersecretaries of economic ministries, the Sudanese Businessmen’s Union, and relevant parties.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister of Investment emphasized the forum’s crucial role in advancing economic and investment cooperation between Sudan and Egypt. The forum aims to create partnerships for integration across various sectors, enhancing regional and Arab economic ties. The Minister highlighted the forum as a platform for Egyptian businessmen to invest in reconstruction projects, urging the submission and prioritization of such initiatives, particularly in health, electricity, water, education, and other service sectors.
The Minister elaborated on Sudan’s preparation for an early recovery phase, noting positive indicators through recent developments. She emphasized the Ministry’s role in attracting investors for development, service, and reconstruction projects, essential for the nation’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.
She further stressed the need for ambitious strategic plans to provide essential services to citizens, facilitating stability. A comprehensive vision for reconstruction projects has been developed, viewing the forum as a means to address challenges in reconstruction and investment.
The Minister announced plans to establish a joint committee with Egypt to determine reconstruction priorities in the near future. The meeting also reviewed outcomes from the technical committee meeting and recommendations from the first forum held in Cairo last November.
