Indigenization of Engineering Industries is the Ministry’s Strategic Plan: Yousif Ali

Khartoum – The Minister of Industry Dr. Mohamed Yousuf Ali asserted that the indigenization of engineering industries was the strategic plan of his ministry. He referred to the major role of the ministry in providing vehicles and spare parts for the sectors of agriculture, oil, transport, metals, cement and sugar industry.
This came when he presided over at his office Tuesday the meeting of the Technical Committee emanating from the Supreme Council for Indigenization of the Engineering Industries, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and representatives of GIAD and Kenana Sugar companies, Industrial Research and Consulting Center and the companies operating in the manufacturing of agricultural machineries, tractors, combine harvesters and bean pullout machines and spare parts manufacturing companies.
The Minister of Industry urged the Technical Committee to accelerate the pace of work and determine legislation and policies supporting indigenization of engineering industries to be forwarded to the Council of Ministers for approval, revealing that the indigenization of engineering industries is important for all the productive sectors in the country and is basic pillar of economic growth.
Dr. Ali said: ((Sudan is one of the leading countries in African in the field of engineering industries)), calling for preparation of comprehensive study for factories of engineering industries, their production capacities and the areas covered.
For their part, GIAD, Kenana and Lambda engineering companies stressed their abilities to cover the needs of agricultural and industrial sectors, minerals, oil, transport, roads, bridges and electricity from machineries, equipment and spare parts at the required quality and standards. They revealed that the number of factories operating in the industrial production amounted to 343 factories, calling for the importance of working to protect processing industries including engineering industries as well as the need for the industrial incubators and giving concern to the developed nanotechnology technologies in the Engineering industries, research and development.
