Independent Boundary Commission to meet in Juba Monday

The meeting for the reconstitution of the South Sudan Independent Boundary Commission (IBC) will take place on Monday in Juba, the East African regional grouping IGAD said.

The IBC consists of 15 members nominated among the parties, supported by five experts nominated by the member states of the African Union High Level Ad Hoc Committee on South Sudan (South Africa, Algeria, Chad, Nigeria and Rwanda).

Pursuant to the revitalised peace deal, the commission will consider the report of the Technical Boundary Committee (TBC) on the South Sudan tribal boundaries as they stood on 1 January 1956.

In a press release extended to Radio Tamazuj Sunday, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) said the body tasked to settle the dispute over the number of states will hold its meeting at Hotel Palm Africa in the capital Juba.
