Ibrahim Jabir Highlights Role of Sports in National Unity


Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, inaugurated the distribution of sports equipment to clubs and teams in the Red Sea State. The event took place in the presence of the State Wali (governor), Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour, the Heads of the General and Local Football Federations, and a number of state officials.



According to Sudan News Agency, Lt. Gen. Jabir emphasized the importance of sports as a crucial element in securing national unity and serving as a gathering place for the diverse people of Sudan. He commended the national football team, Hilal Al-Sahel, for their victories and the significant progress made in the Olympic Games.



The TSC Member urged sports leaders to focus on engaging Sudanese youth and to provide them with comprehensive support in all areas. He highlighted that achievements in sports amidst the ongoing conflict have lifted the spirits and hopes of the Sudanese people, affirming the government’s commitment to backing all sports sectors.



Lt. Gen. Jabir acknowledged the dedication of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, federations, clubs, and teams in advancing the cause of sports with determination and skill. He also praised the resilience of the Sudanese people in enduring difficult humanitarian and security challenges, while continuing to support their teams and clubs both domestically and internationally.
