VADODARA: Rajeev Gupta, an officer of the 1979 batch of the Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME) has taken over as Director General (DG) of the National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Vadodara recently.
Gupta has traveled widely in South and East Asia, Australia, China, Europe and the Middle East. He has served in senior positions in railways, shipping and port sectors.
He was chairman of Mumbai Port Trust and joint secretary in Ministry of Shipping. He has wide exposure to policy making, legislation, international maritime related organizations and trade negotiations in shipping, shipbuilding, ports, and waterways among others.
“He also has board level experience in associated CPSUs and JVs, statutory, autonomous, regulatory and bodies, classification societies, academic and training institutions, industry and trade associations,” a release issued by Vadodara railway division said.
“He is also versed with information technology, railway operations and manufacturing, repair and maintenance of rolling stock and is a heritage conservation and history enthusiast,” the release further mentioned.
