Cairo: Minster of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ali Yousuf Al-Sharif met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Aati on Wednesday evening at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and developing coordinated efforts at all levels regarding the key issues of mutual concern. Additionally, they addressed several regional and international topics of joint interest.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Egyptian Minister affirmed Egypt’s unwavering commitment to supporting Sudan and preserving its institutions, which are seen as the sole guarantors of the country’s unity. He emphasized Egypt’s dedication to amplifying Sudan’s voice in any international forum it participates in. Dr. Al-Sharif expressed appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance, highlighting Sudan’s significance to Egyptian national security. He stressed the importance of collaborating on a strategic roadmap to strengthen relations and assist S
udan in overcoming its current crisis.
The Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude to Egypt for hosting a large number of Sudanese exiles fleeing the conflict instigated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. He raised concerns regarding the challenges faced by Sudanese in Egypt, including visa and residency issues, complications for Sudanese schools and students in Egyptian universities, and obstacles for Sudanese doctors working in Egypt. Proposals and solutions were discussed, with the Egyptian Foreign Minister committing to personally oversee their implementation in coordination with relevant Egyptian authorities.
