Nairobi: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali Yousif, Friday started an official visit to Kenya, at the invitation of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs Dr. Musalia Mudavadi. The two ministers held bilateral talks aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations and discussing ways to enhance the cooperation in various fields.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Foreign Minister has pointed to the long-standing relations between Sudan and Kenya and their support for joint efforts towards regional peace and stability. The two ministers signed a joint final communique in which they affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations at various sectors, including the economic, political and the multilateral diplomacy.
The two sides also pledged to support the political dialogue and coordination on the regional and international issues of common concern. They pledged to work together to support the peace initiatives in the region and to address the pressing challenges posed by terrorism, extremism and human trafficking.
The two sides also agreed to continue dialogue and cooperation through the convening of the political consultation committee between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, and also agreed to resume the work of the joint ministerial committee. Dr. Ali Yousif has concluded his visit with a meeting with the Kenyan President, William Ruto, during which he conveyed the greetings of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, and his desire to consolidate the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Dr. Ali Yousif also briefed the Kenyan President on the political developments in the country, especially the great victories achieved by the Armed Forces and the recovery of large parts of the country from the terrorist militia. The Kenyan President William Ruto, expressed his welcome to visit Sudan in response to the invitation of his brother, the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.
The Kenyan President also affirmed his support for Sudan’s return to the African Union and the IGAD, and the joint work to strengthen the bilateral relations in the political and economic fields and coordination in international forums. The Sudanese diplomatic mission in Nairobi held a dinner on the occasion of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of members of the Arab and European diplomatic missions accredited to Nairobi.
At the occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed aspects of his visit and the results achieved during it, especially the importance of strengthening and developing relations between Sudan and Kenya and briefing about the political and security developments in the country.
