Fire in East Darfur camp for displaced

A fire destroyed 13 homes in the Neem camp for displaced people near Ed Daein, capital of East Darfur, on Saturday. A farmer was shot in his leg in Tawila in North Darfur yesterday.
Saleh Ibrahim, director of the organisation Youth for Darfur, told Radio Dabanga that the fire could spread rapidly because of strong winds. “Fortunately, no one was hurt. 13 houses burned down completely. The families that were living there lost everything, including the stocked crops they recently harvested,” he said.
“They are living in the open in critical humanitarian conditions and are in urgent need of humanitarian aid, including shelter and blankets.”
Saleh added that his organisation supported the victims with some financial aid “but that is not sufficient”. He appealed to humanitarian organisations to provide help to the affected families.
Tawila
Farmer Ibrahim Seneen (35) was shot in the area of Um Laouta, north of Tabit, in Tawila locality on Sunday.
A listener told Radio Dabanga that Seneen was shot in the left leg by herders, when he objected that their camels were grazing on his farm, destroying his cucumbers and tomatoes.
He was transferred to the Health Clinic of Tabit. The incident was reported to the security forces deployed to protect the agricultural season in the area, who arrested the attacker.
