Khartoum: The National Mine Action Center has successfully detonated 50,000 explosive ordnances, several anti-tank mines, and a significant amount of small arms ammunition collected from remnants of war. This operation marks a substantial effort in clearing hazardous materials that pose a threat to safety in affected areas.

According to Sudan News Agency, Major General Khalid Hamdan, the Director of the Center, emphasized that all operations adhered to strict safety procedures to ensure civilian safety. Residents were kept away from the areas during the clearance process. Major General Hamdan has urged citizens to refrain from handling any explosive remnants and to report any findings immediately to security authorities or by calling the designated hotline, 60666.

The clearance operations commenced on 16 August and represent a crucial step towards mitigating the risks posed by unexploded ordnances and ensuring the safety of communities in the area.
