ETHIOPIA RE-AFFIRMS CONTINUED SUPPORT TO BRING LASTING PEACE TO SOUTH SUDAN
Ethiopia will further consolidate its support to bringing sustainable peace and stability to South Sudan, says Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn, who is also the current Chairman of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the sub-regional Horn of Africa grouping spearheading efforts to end the civil war in neighbouring South Sudan.
The Premier, who was in Nairobi Tuesday to attend the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta, held discussions while he wa in the Kenyan capital with President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan.
Hailemariam assured Mayardit that Ethiopia would pursue its support for South Sudan to solve its problems permanently and restore stability. Hailemariam also explained the role and contribution of IGAD in resolving the conflict.
The two leaders discussed efforts to enhance South Sudan's peace and stability through an inclusive and participatory dialogue involving all South Sudanese parties at length.
