ETHIOPIA A STRONG PARTNER OF SUDAN ON ALL FRONTS, SAYS NEW AMBASSADOR
ADDIS ABABA, -- Ethiopia is a very strong partner to Sudan on all frontiers, says the the newly appointed Sudanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Gamal Alshaikh Ahmed.
The diplomat, who called on Ethiopian State Minister for Foreign Affairs Taye Atsekeselassie here Wednesday added that Ethiopia held a significant importance for Sudan not just in its own right but also because the country hosts the headquarters of the African Union (AU) Commission, an important institution for Sudan.
He promised to work with Ethiopia on issues that matter to the two nations and to the region at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
Taye said Ethiopia and northern neighbour Sudan had intertwined destines, adding that what happens in Ethiopia directly impacts Sudan and vice-versa.
"We do not need to re-emphasize the already existing strong relations between the two nations, one built through generations," he added.
He said the two nations can use multilateral forums like AU and the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to articulate and aggregate common and regional agendas in their efforts to work together on issues that are meant to be addressed soon.
