Egypt, S. Korea business forum starts in Cairo

Presidency spokesman,  ambassador Alaa Yusuf said that the Korean  Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy held  the greetings and appreciation of the Korean President to Mr. President, expressing his happiness to visit Egypt at the head of the largest Korean economic delegation in the history of relations between the two countries. The delegation includes 143 people representing 67 major Korean companies.

He underlined  his country’s keenness on boosting all  development aspects of cooperation between the two countries, especially on the economic level, in the framework of the comprehensive partnership which was launched between the two countries during the South Korean President’s  visit, which had a very positive impact in pushing forward the bilateral relations between the two countries on all levels , particularly the  economic.

The Korean Trade minister stressed  that the Korean companies are keen to increase and develop  their business and investments in Egypt, in the light of the promising opportunities provided by  the various projects launched and  carried out by Egypt, as well as its distinguished  geographical location, the abundance of personnel and the mammoth exporting  potentials within the framework of  free trade agreements between Egypt and many countries in Africa, Europe and the Arab region.

The  Egyptian-South Korean Business Forum kicked off here on Thursday.

The forum discusses ways of boosting bilateral economic cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in the infrastructure and energy projects in addition to the Suez Canal.

Organized by the Egyptian Businessmen Association and the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), the forum is held under the auspices of Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil and South Korean Trade Minister Joo Hyung-hwan.

The forum is attended by a number of well-known companies, notably Hyundai Cars, Samsung and SGS Construction.

A high-profile South Korean delegation comprising representatives of Hana Bank, the South Korean Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and the Seoul International Women’s Association is participating in the forum, he asserted.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye had attended on March 3 the signing ceremony of nine agreements on joint cooperation in several fields including higher education, justice, industry, trade, railways and upgrading ports.
