DEFENCE MINISTER REITERATES SUDAN’S KEENNESS FOR DISTINGUISED TIED WITH U.S.
KHARTOUM, Sudanese Defence Minister Lieutenant-General Awad Mohamed Ahmed bin Oaf has reiterated the keenness of Sudan to establish distinguished ties with the United States which will realize the interests of the two countries and support efforts for maintaining international peace and security and combating corruption.
He expressed this view here Monday when the visiting United States Assistant Treasury Secretary for Terrorist Financing, Marshall Billingslea and his delegation called on him. Also present was the Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Sudan, Steven Koutsis.
The Minister asserted the commitment of Sudan to the United Nations resolutions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the combating of terrorism, when responding to queries posed by the American delegation.
Meanwhile, Billingslea expressed appreciation for the frankness which characterized the meeting, and assured of the desire to help push ahead relations between Sudan and the United States.
The meeting also discussed ways for building mutual confidence between Sudan and the United States.
