Currency Replacement Committee Evaluates Preparations for Currency Exchange in Khartoum and Gezira


Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir, led a critical meeting of the Currency Replacement Committee, focusing on the upcoming currency exchange process in the states of Khartoum and Gezira. The gathering, which took place on Tuesday, was attended by the Minister of the Council of Ministers, who is also serving as the caretaker of the Prime Minister, alongside several other ministers and representatives from key economic and security institutions.



According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting provided a platform for discussing the latest preparations for the currency replacement initiative in the two significant states. Attendees received updates on various topics, including the mobile payment services, the activities of exchange committees within the states, and strategies aimed at curbing currency trading. The TSC Member also evaluated progress reports from the Electronic Payment Emergency Chamber’s supervisory committee.



Furthermore, the meeting addressed advancements in the e-government project, with detailed explanations regarding the Zakat House’s strategy for leveraging electronic payment platforms for collection purposes. Minister of Culture and Information and Government Spokesperson Khalid Al-Eiser conveyed in a press statement that the discussion highlighted the necessity of integrating all local and federal revenue units into a unified electronic payment and collection system. He remarked on the integration status of banking applications, noting that around eighteen banks have successfully completed the integration to streamline electronic transfers.
